Scope Report May 2026 At our next Chemung County chapter meeting on Wednesday June 24, 2026 we have the honor of hosting LADIES NIGHT! Bobby Jo Burdick and Rebecca Allen, leaders of the Steuben County chapter of Armed Women of America will be speaking. Of course the event is open to everyone, and we encourage you to come and bring any significant others with you to hear from these representatives. Attached you’ll find the flyer we’ve created to advertise the event, please don’t hesitate to print and distribute it as widely as possible. When I’m away I create monthly Scope reports for my e-mail list to keep you informed of goings on within NYS Scope in general and our Chemung County chapter in particular. I tend to create fewer reports when I’m back here locally during the spring and summer, unless there are particular items that need better information for you. Such as the Ladies Night mentioned above. I speak at the clubs and federation meetings each month, but there are many who don’t attend those meetings, so I’ll add more informational reports in this format. In April we continued our 50/50 raffles to obtain needed funds for our chapter. We switched to a monthly version, where we gather the raffles at each meeting I attend through the month and draw a winner at the last meeting of the month, producing a larger jackpot to share. And stay tuned, as we are planning a gun raffle! Our first will offer as the winning prize a Henry Golden Boy rifle, chambered in your choice of .17 HMR, .22LR, or .22 Magnum. The youth version is included. Part of our planned usage of funds earned include donations to area youth shooting sports, among others. More details to follow. In other news, at the NYS Scope annual members meeting on April 18 at the Moose club in Montour Falls we heard from gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman and his running mate Todd Hood. Both spoke at length of the state of gun laws. Be sure to check out the Scope website, scopeny2a.org, and view the completed 10 most egregious gun bills list, along with the new Watch list detailing some bills just as bad, but that didn’t quite make the top 10. And finally, Scope is looking for any help with communication and distribution skills to help widen our informational and educational approach. We’re expanding into social media sources and other avenues. If you have such skills or know of others that would be willing, contact us for further information. You can e-mail me at rhavlen@stny.rr.com, and I’ll get the information to the right people. | Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 6:30pm Ladies Night!!
