AUGUST 2024 NEWSLETTER

Raffles	Tickets are out for sale for the fall raffle. Please pick some at a meeting. We still do ammo raffles each meeting along with member only raffles. These are only available at meetings.
Steuben County Fair	August 12 - 18 We will have our booth set up again this year. Anyone interested in helping out (it’s fun and easy) please come to the meeting Aug 5th and sign up. A couple hours is a small price to pay to help convince people to get out and vote and / or join SCOPE.
New York Outdoor News	We have significantly upgraded our ads. They will run until the November election. New York St gun owners and hunters are their own worst enemy. Poor voter turnout in all elections is a large part of the problems we face. We can’t allow anti gun politicians to destroy the Second Amendment. We need to convince everyone to vote!

Bi Monthly member Meeting	Meetings are still the 1st and 3rd Mondays @ 7:00 PM. Ammo raffles, Member Only Raffle, legislative updates, and lots of great conversation.
Guest Speakers	August 5th, We will have two Republican Supreme Court Candidates. Stacey Romeo and Ed White. Both are pro 2A. Please stop in and get the information you need to cast an educated vote. We need good honest judges at the highest level who don’t legislate from the bench.

SCOPE Annual Banquet	September 28th Fabius NY. The Pompey Rod & Gun Club is hosting. Tickets are $65 per person. A silent auction and basket raffle is planned. Ray Bros. BBQ is catering. Casual meeting this year.

My .2 cents	Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know about the attempt on President Trumps’ life. This tells you everything you need to know. The left will do anything to keep him out of the White House. The old saying “you don’t get any flak unless you’re over the target” holds very true in Trumps case. The left is running scared. If we lose this election, gun owners, veterans, conservatives, and Constitutionalists will all be threatened under the Communist Democrats. We need to be vigilant when listening to the fake news. Don’t let them manipulate voters into complacency. Every eligible voter needs to vote, and take someone with you. Make this election too big to rig! There have been articles everywhere this year about voter participation. As I have mentioned before, gun owners and hunters have some of the worst records. Just remember that the President is only as effective as his Congress. We need to ensure that the down ballot is strong also. It’s time to kick in to high gear and help our cause. Stay strong and unafraid. -Dave

My 2 cents.....

We may not be able to endorse candidates, but we do endorse freedom.
We have the right to live our lives without over burdensome regulations.
Should the government have the right to impose their will on us when it comes to firearms (and ammo), what kind of appliances we can own, what kind of car? When will they go over the top when it comes to our thoughts and freedom of speech? we’re almost to that point.
We need to VOTE to save those God given rights.
We can’t expect one election to change everything for the better, but we can be sure that all of this will get worse if we stay on this path by not participating.
I know you’ve all heard this before. I can’t emphasize this enough. Inaction and silence is the same as compliance.
Let your voice be heard.

Every year Steuben Co. SCOPE donates to the NYS High School Clay Target League. (NYSHSCTL)
NYSHSCTL is an independent provider of shooting sports as an extracurricular co-ed and adaptive activity for high schools and students in grades 6 through 12. The organization’s priorities are safety, fun, and marksmanship. They are a 501 C(3) non-profit organization and all students have earned their firerm safety certification. Along with the NYSHSCTL, Steuben Co. SCOPE also donates to the 5 Rivers Council BSA annual Sporting Clays Shoot. It is imperative that we support these youth and the shooting sports.
